January 2016 Part 2 - Change - Miss Vienna

She missed him terribly.

Looking over at the empty bed, her heart hurt. She hadn't expected him to leave quite so soon. She had fired him, told him that they would need him to move out before long, but she had said he could stay until they needed the bed for a new servant. He was supposed to linger, to give her a few days to adjust to their new situation before he left...

It had made sense at the time.

But now, with Pearl taking her new dress to a laundress, and Arturo and Artimisia out on errands, the house felt cold and silent. There were dishes to be done, and she had the nagging feeling that there was something she was supposed to do that she had forgotten... and no one was around to help her clean or keep her organized.

He pulled his thread of fate for her. He seemed to want to go back to the way things were as much as she did... and she wouldn't let him. He asked to stay, asked to continue in her employment, told her he cared about her, even offered to accept the bond again...

And instead, she sent him away. Her feelings had been hurt, and she told herself it was too politically complicated to keep him, and anyway shouldn't her servants also be capable of being her food sources? She certainly couldn't become blood bound every time she was thirsty.

She lay on the bed, letting the dishes sit, ignoring her other obligations for the day, and just wished he could be her servant again.
