The menfolk don't wander near MacGuffy Claim
For those who return are not ever the same
Those who do not are found drown-ed nearby
With smiles on their faces, so happy to die.

MacGuffy was rude and MacGuffy was mean
Macguffy was ugly as you've ever seen
He spied a young maiden and sought her to woo
Not knowing she'd already found her love true.

He went to her father with all that he owned
And purchased his bride though she sobbed and she moaned
She sobbed and she moaned all their wedding night through
And would not to bed, only paced fro and to.

Macguffy was angry and poor and ashamed
He gave all he had, this mad woman to claim.
Embarrassed and angry he bound his young bride
And dragged her still sobbing to Quarry Creek's side

Though shallow the water, he held her face down
Disheveled and soaked still in her wedding gown
Macguffy went mad. He had nothing and less.
But what he did after is anyone's guess.
