(Canon) Proposed: NECROMANCY: Draining the well of life (2)

Post by Rydath » Tue May 23, 2017 10:41 am

Ritual: Draining the Well of Life
Prerequisites: Necromancy, Rituals level 2
Ritual components: A character who is naturally alive. Easy to remove makeup (this will represent a knife, a pen, or some ash and an appropriate prop is recommended) for writing names on the target.
Cost: None; user may lose path
Purpose: Restore energy to a group of wraiths
Expected Casting Time: 4 minutes
Description:Prepare your necromantic foci

You may allow a number of wraiths to benefit from this ritual equal to your level in the Rituals background. You must write or carve the name of each Wraith you would like to benefit from this ritual onto a living creature that you intend to feed from. This living creature must be conscious and able to experience pain for the ritual to work. Each of the named Wraiths must remain in the room as witnesses to the ritual for its duration in order to receive the benefit.

Once the necromantic foci have been utilized and the Wraith’s names have been written, recite the following incantation:
“Darkness bless this meal,
Of which I partake,
The pain it shall feel,
Is sweet as cake.“

Then, you must feed from the living creature without invoking the kiss until it reaches 0 health. If you do so, you may grant a number of Pathos equal to the number of health drained this way to each Wraith participant. Once you have produced this effect, you may not use this ritual again until 8 hours have passed.

If you are on the Path of humanity and your Path rating is 3 or higher, this ritual causes path loss. If you're on a Wyld or Weaver tainted Path and your Path rating is 5 or greater, this ritual causes Path loss. This Path loss may be mitigated by using the contrition rules described under Losing Morality.

Bumping this thread! This was submitted a year and ten months ago. Rules team, what needs to be updated for this ritual to be approved?

We're well aware of how far behind we are on ritual approvals, thanks.

This is in the queue for discussion. We have not gotten to it yet. Your patience is appreciated.

Here is the most recent version. It's not that it hadn't been touched in two years, it's that the discussion was not public.

From here, please adjust the following:
- ritualist may cast once per game
- wraith may benefit from one wellspring game (no matter how many copies of the rituals / how many necromancers there are in game)
- use tokens rather than check boxes or hash marks, make it clear that 2 blood must be spent per token made available, and that additional charges may not be added after ritual is cast.

Ritual: Draining the Well of Life
Prerequisites: Necromancy, Rituals level 2
Ritual components: A character who is naturally alive.
Cost: 2 blood per charge. User may lose path.
Purpose: Create a Pathos wellspring
Expected Casting Time: About 3 minutes
Description: Prepare your necromantic foci.

Over a bound, helpless, or otherwise unresisting living creature, recite the following incantation.

“Darkness bless this meal,
Of which I partake,
The pain it shall feel,
Is sweet as cake.“

Then, you must feed from the living creature without invoking the kiss until it reaches 0 health. Once the creature is at 0 health, create a wellspring with the following text onto a 3x5 card and place it near the unconscious creature.

"Wellspring: Well of Life.
Wraiths may touch this card and spend 1 Willpower to receive the effect of "Fill Pool: Pathos" instantly. This wellspring has charges. Each wraith may only use this wellspring once. Each wraith must make a dash on the bottom of the wellspring when they use it. This wellspring expires at ____ or when the number of dashes equals the number of charges on this wellspring."

Writing this wellspring is considered part of this ritual. If you wish to use a pre-made card, must spend at least one minute meditating before placing it. When you create this wellspring, immediately spend 2 blood for every charge of Fill Pool: Pathos you wish for it to have. The wellspring expires 2 hours after its creation, or when all of its charges have been used.

If the living target dies or regains consciousness before you have created the wellspring, this ritual fails and must be restarted. If the living target remains unconscious or dying, the ritual is completed, and living target used in the ritual may be revived or left to die without interfering with the ritual.
