Why it's worth it, May 2015 (Alex)

Alex woke up while the dew was still on the grass. She stretched her arms high over her head as she slowly pulled herself out of bed. Well, out of the pile furs stuffed inside her tent. She grabbed two scarves as she stumbled outside, wrapping one around her waist and the other in a tight band around her chest.

She shook her hair out, smiling as her eyes darted around to the spirits teeming in the glade. She was proud of this place, proud of this safe haven she'd shrouded in the woods. She smiled and waved at the growing tree spirits as she stooped to pick up a bag full of glass bottles.

The damp redwood leaves which carpeted the forest floor felt good on her bare feet. Though the vibrance of the trees dimmed once she'd left the bounds of the glade the forest surrounding Quarry Creek was still beautiful. She followed the sound of the rushing river until she reached it's banks.

She sat on the bank for a few minutes, enjoying the sound and the stillness before dipping the bottles into the flowing water. She stowed them in her bag, making her way back.

Back in the glade she shuffled a few things around, lit a fire, poured out one of the bottles into an iron teapot and set it to hang above the flames. Next step was cutting down the rabbits she'd hung up to drain the previous night.

She heard a shuffling as she sat down to dress one of the rabbits. Between the crackling of the fire, the rustling of the trees, the sounds of the birds, and the low hum of breath still coming from inside the tent the war against the Wyrm felt very, very far away.
