Blood Contract (5)

Requirements: Thaumaturgy, Rituals 5
Components: Bladed Boffer weapon, red ink and quill (or a red pen) & fine paper, two targets, wooden bowl.
Cost: 5 blood
Cast Time: 3 minutes

Special: This ritual is only castable once per game session.

Target: Two or more willing targets, one of which may be the caster.

Create a level 5 Thaumaturgy Circle.

Arrange the components around the circle, with one on each point.

Pantomime opening your wrist and draining your blood into the bowl. Pantomime dipping your writing utensil in the blood; write the contract in red ink. All targets then sign the contract also in red ink.

The Caster spends 5 blood.

A Blood Contract must include the following three clauses:

  • A clear description of the service or favor provided by the individual who is being contracted.
  • A clear description of the payment provided by the individual doing the contracting.
  • The terms under which the Blood Contract can be terminated.

These clauses do not have to be fair, but they must exist for the Blood Contract to function. Attempts to add clauses that forbid the destroying of the contract, override the required clauses, or absolve an individual from the consequences of breaching the contract, cause the ritual to immediately fail.

Anyone who signs said contract is will be mystically bound and must follow it to the letter, including the Thaumaturge, if she is one of the signing parties. Violators automatically drop to 0 health and are dying. Furthermore, the other party should be notified of the contract violation OOC as soon as possible.

The Blood Contract lasts until one party dies, until its completion clause is triggered, or until the document itself is destroyed.

It is possible to coerce an individual into signing a Blood Contract with threats, but if a character is compelled with a supernatural power to sign a contract, the ritual fails. If any party named in the Blood Contract fails to sign at the time of casting, the ritual fails.

If the Blood Contract ritual fails, it has no effect at all (other than wasting the caster’s spent blood.)
