Ritual:Rite of Praise
Rite of Praise (2)
Requirements: | 1 Werewolf Ritemaster, and 1 Target Shifter that the entire Sept wishes to honor |
Components: | A moot |
Cost: | 1 Gnosis from each target present |
Cast Time: | 1-5 minutes |
May contribute to: | Honor, Obligation, plus any Renown for the target |
Purpose: | Allows the honoree to receive 1 extra Renown during the Moot above the normal amount. This Rite may only be used on one target at a Moot, must be sufficiently backed up by evidence, and must be used immediately after the Moot is opened. |
The Rite of Praise should be reserved for very notable actions, not simply for doing one’s duty. This Rite may only be performed before stories are told at a Moot, and only on one character per event. You may never use the Rite of Praise on yourself.
Upon entering the 4th phase of the Moot (Renown Time), call out “Friends, we must first honor one who stood above all others, who served the fight such that few do. [name of target], Step forward!” - the target should move a short distance in front of the ritualist. “We give our gratitude and ask the spirits to do the same. May you be honored in excess this night.” Lead the present Garou in a cheer, then thank the target and return the Moot to it’s regular schedule.
When telling the Storytellers about any Renown the target should gain, notify them that they have had the Rite of Praise used on them, and may gain an additional Renown.
If the spirits feel that this ritual was performed without good reason, they may strip the ritualist of an Honor/Obligation tag and destroy it (assuming the ritualist has any Honor at all…)
