Swear Oath (1)

Requirements: Changeling, Rituals 1 (all trolls get this ritual for free)
Components: A bladed weapon prop. A 3x5 card. A pen.
Cost: 3 Health and 3 Glamour. + 1 permanent Banality if contract is broken.
Cast Time: 1 minute

**SPECIAL: Trolls who have not purchased the Rituals background are granted 1 level of Rituals when casting the Swear Oath ritual.

To bind a Changeling to an Oath. The exact phrasing of the Oath is more important than the spirit, as sometimes destiny demands ironic outcomes. This counts as a Ritual Contract for Trolls.

Choose one of the Standard Oaths below. You may choose to add extra stipulations to the Oath to make it more demanding.

Take a knee or bow, then swear the following oath to the dreaming and any witnesses you deem appropriate:

“I, <Your Changeling Name>, Swear to <Oath>. Should I break this vow, may my Faerie soul be struck down.”

Mime cutting your hand with the bladed weapon and spend 3 Health and 3 Glamour.

Write down the words ‘Sworn Oath: <words of Oath>’ onto a 3x5 Ritual card and carry it on your person. This Ritual lasts until the oath has been broken or the card is destroyed by a power. So long as the Oath is being upheld and pursued, the character has +1 maximum Willpower.

If the Oath is broken, the character Chimerically dies, immediately gaining a permanent banality and falling into a forgetting state. The power Break Bonds will destroy this ritual, but it causes a Forgetting state if the ritual is destroyed this way.
