Create Necromantic Focus (0)

Requirements: Necromancy
Cost:
Cast Time:
Notes: This ritual is automatically gained by everyone who learns Necromancy 1. It costs nothing. Characters starting with Necromancy gain a number of Necromantic Foci equal to their level of Necromancy. As part of learning Necromancy, your teacher will help you to conduct this ritual so when you buy your first level of Necromancy, you will start with a focus.

By using this ritual, a Necromancer can create a Necromantic Focus for use in other Necromancy Rituals. A Necromancer can have in existence a total number of Necromantic Foci equal to his level of Necromancy. Necromantic Foci are considered Relics.

When casting Necromancy rituals, you will require a number of Necromantic Foci equal to the level of the ritual. One of these Foci MUST be a Necromantic Focus you created. The others (for level 2 or above) can either be a Focus you created, or something else tied to the dead - such as a Relic, Fetter, or even a willing Wraith you can touch.

Necromancy Rituals will say to “Prepare your Necromantic Focus(or Foci)”. To do this, you must spend 60 seconds on each focus preparing it for the ritual. How you do this is up to you. Perhaps you ritually clean it, or chant something, or silently meditate with it. The process is up to you. At the end of which, you should place the focus on the ground next to you. If you have multiple Focuses, you may arrange them however you like.

To create a Necromantic Focus, you must select an object of great personal value to you. It must be something that can be easily carried. It should be no larger than 1 cubic foot in volume, nor weigh more than 10lbs.

Bring the object to a graveyard or other place of the dead. Spend a Willpower and pantomime cutting off a part of your flesh, doing at least 2 points of damage to yourself. Pantomime spreading the ashes over the object. Then pantomime burying the object with the dead. Wrap the object in an orange ribbon - it is OOG for the rest of the game. Fill out a ritual card and turn it in at Check-out. Next game, at Check-in, you will be given a Relic Tag and a Necromantic Tag. Attach both of these to the prop object.

If your Necromantic Focus is destroyed, you can cast this ritual again to replace it. If you lose your Necromantic Focus, you must destroy your connection to it before you can replace it. To do so, you must go to a graveyard or other place of the dead. Once there, you must either stake yourself or do enough damage to yourself to go unconscious and dying. When you regain consciousness, spend 3 Willpower.

As soon as possible, head to ST camp and inform them that you have done a ritual to destroy your Necromantic Focus, and describe it, along with whomever you believe may have it. ST Camp will send an OOG agent to remove the Necromantic Focus and Relic tags from the prop.
