Moot Rite (1)

Requirements: At least one Werewolf
Components: A Caern
Cost: 1 Gnosis for all in attendance.
Cast Time: 30 minutes or more
May contribute to: Honor, Obligation
Purpose: Opens a Moot for Garou to discuss Renown with the Spirits and each other.

This rite begins by declaring oneself the Ritemaster of the Moot (usually a Galliard), and welcoming all in attendance. "I am [Rank] [Deed Name], [Auspice] of [Tribe]. Welcome to [Sept or organization name]. I call to order our moot, this [Month], [Moon], [Year].” Ask all present to spend 1 Gnosis. “We begin with a reminder of who we are. Fool?" Designate the Fool (usually a Ragabash) by pointing at them. They should respond with an exaggerated pretentious bow.

Begin reading the basics of the Litany, giving enough time for the Fool to interject, snarking at the Litany and at those who they feel have made light of it. You need not recite the entire Litany, but should at least call out those most important to those present. Describe why this moot has been called, expect The Fool to interject and do your best to ignore them.

Calm the gathered Garou, including The Fool and either designate the windcaller (usually a Theurge) by pointing and saying "Do us the honor of thanking the winds," or begin this process yourself. The Moot should Thank the East Wind for Helios' light, the South Wind for the gift of Rage, the West Wind for the gift of change, the North Wind for this very tradition, and the wind from within for all of Gaia's power.

Designate the Truthcatcher (usually a Philodox) by pointing and stating "Truthcatcher, honor us by cracking the bone and hearing what those gathered have to say." The Truthcatcher should then crack a large bone or heavy stick against a hard object and ask if anyone wishes to speak. Pass the 'bone' around to those who wish to speak, the Truthcatcher controls who speaks here. Even The Fool dare not speak out of turn during this phase of things (and should be notified of this)

When all have had their say, take the bone from the Truthcatcher and toss it outside of the Garou present then call for the Talesinger (usually a Galliard), sometimes the Ritemaster, to begin the Rite of Renown, asking the spirits gathered to hear stories and begin the task of earning Renown for all of those present.

Once the Rite of Renown has been completed for the evening, the Revel begins, the Wyrmfoe is selected from among those present and he begins a mock-battle for the Caern, calling upon some Garou to act as enemies and others as allies. None should be actually injured during this battle, and the defenders should always win, though the 'fight' should be intense.
