Ritual:Rite of Cleansing

Purpose:	Allows the user to cleanse a person or object of Taint.

This relatively simple rite begins by spending about a minute clearing a space on the ground large enough for the target person or thing to be set inside - it does not need to be completely free of natural matter, simply tidy and uniform.

If you intend to cleanse a person, ask them to sit inside the ritual area. Hand the person a clean cloth and ask them to wipe it over any exposed flesh, including the face. From a flask or other container sprinkle fresh water around (but not directly on) the target.

If you intend to cleanse an object, use a clean cloth to wipe the object down, then set it in the ritual area. From a flask or other container sprinkle fresh water around the target. The object is not permanently cleansed, add a 3x5 card over the tag, describing the original object but without the Taint. The effect lasts until end of game. Include the date on the 3x5 card. If you collect 3 of these cards for one object over 3 game sessions bring them to check-in the following game and receive a new tag without the Taint. Shattering this card destroys the actual tag as well.

In either cleansing, recite the following: “Balance in all things. Our strength comes from this balance, and I call upon that strength to restore balance within [target].” Take the target’s hand, or place your hand upon the target without picking it up. “I restore to you your balance.”

Determine the level of one type of taint (either by checking the taint card or asking the target) and spend as much Gnosis as you wish in order to decrease the taint by that amount.

This ritual allows you to cleanse only one thing at a time and only of one type of taint at a time. You must use it a second time to cleanse a second target or a second type of taint.
